We are Peter and Melanie and we bought Home Farm House in 1999. We are still amazed that we found such a lovely house and we look forward to sharing it with you.
After 11 years living and working overseas, we decided to come back to the UK in 1999. We knew we needed to be within reach of Oxford and London. It was also important for us to have good access to motorways and train stations. Most of all though, we felt we needed somewhere for our young family that we could make into a wonderful home.
Melanie saw Home Farm House in Steventon and immediately fell in love with the house. She made an offer to buy on the spot – without Peter seeing it at all. It was relatively easy to convince Peter it would be a wonderful family home. Melanie told him it was a lovely house, on a village green where they played cricket and the village had four pubs!
We never bought Home Farm House with the intention of starting a B&B. It just seemed like a natural thing to do and we really enjoy it.
Home Farm House has lots of rooms and the rear access and a second staircase. This means that you can come and go freely during your stay. We have converted the outbuildings into more accommodation for families and long-term guests. Somehow, Home Farm House seems to be the perfect place for a bed and breakfast.
Best of all, Steventon offers a perfect location for Oxford, being close to the A34, M4, M40 and Didcot rail station. There are several local business and science parks so we welcome many guests who stay for work reasons. With Milton Park, Harwell International Business Centre and NRPB at Chiltern plus Williams Martini Racing, there are lots of reasons to visit. We have numerous visitors from overseas companies on long-term work placements or projects. Explore our bed and breakfast accommodation and you will discover why we a popular choice with business and leisure guests alike.
